After moisture started leaking into the crawl space in the before photo, it resulted in the hanging and wet insulation in the before photo. The plastic tarp in the photo was meant to keep moisture from passing through the dirt floor. If it was working, it wasn’t enough for the rest of the crawl space. Some of the moisture could be traced back to a broken pipe, but after it was repaired, the crawl space was still damp. Our system design specialist traced the leaks back to the block wall foundation. The CleanSpace Vapor Barrier System in the after photo is able to replace the previous tarp barrier and keep moisture from leaking through the walls. It's impenetrable by moisture so water won't affect it again.
So we got a heavy rain and you realize your basement is flooded. The first thing to do after you panic is to call us here at Ayers. We would be happy to send someone out to do a free inspection of your problem and get you a free estimate.
When a basement is flooded or damp the best thing to do is install a perimeter system to channel all the water that is coming in through the floors and walls. The next thing to do is find a way to get all of that water out of your basement/crawl space. A sump pump is the best option for this. We offer a few different types to suit everyone's needs. The pump pictured is our SuperSump. It comes with a sturdy liner with holes in it to accept the ground water. It next comes with an airtight lid to prevent the water from evaporating back into your basement because that's pretty contradictive if you ask us. It also comes with a pump stand, a floor drain and the best part...a pump alarm. The alarm works in the emergency case that it can't keep up with the amount of water that's coming in. This allows you to do something before you have a bigger problem on your hands.
The original pump in the picture didn't have a lid to prevent evaporation and it was getting old. We replaced the sump pump and have a happy customer who is not enjoying a dry basement with their new SuperSump sump pump and WaterGuard system.
This couple had a cottage in Boyne City. The crawl space had a musty smell but the smell was starting to permeate the home so Michele and Derrick wanted a fix so they could enjoy their home. we used CleanSpace Crawl Space Vapor Barrier to keep out humidity, water vapor, and pests. We also installed the SaniDry XP which continuously blows dry air throughout the space to keep the smell at bay. The dehumidifier also filters the air for mold spores, dust, and other small particles to keep the air clean.
The depths of this home were dark, damp and desperately needed some TLC. To stop moisture from entering the crawl space, our team installed CleanSpace. This durable, thick plastic liner seals off the home from the dirt ground and keeps water out. It’s manufactured with an antimicrobial additive, which prevents mold growth, keeping the space nice and healthy. Additionally, SilverGlo insulation panels were installed to keep the space warm. The graphite particles in the insulation reflect heat back into the space, which consequently helps keep upstairs room warm, too. The last step in keeping this crawl space dry was the installation of a SaniDry dehumidifier. This dehumidifier is just as energy efficient as its counterparts, but SaniDry removes up to 4 times more moisture from the air. Generally speaking, dry air in a crawl space equals clean air—the dehumidifier lowers humidity which also lowers the chances of mold growing. This crawl space is now dry, bright and healthy!
One of our customers from Leland Michigan gave us a call. She said that her basement was collecting water and she needed help waterproofing it. We drove to her home and knew just the solution, she did not have a sump pump so we hooked her up with the best one out there, the TripleSafe. TripleSafe is a sump pump with three different pumps in one liner. The first being the 1/3 hp zoeller pump which does most of the pumping and is placed at the bottom of the liner. The second is the 1/2 hp zoeller that is placed slightly higher than the first. This pump is more powerful but will only be turned on when needed. The final pump is the battery-operated UltraSump DC which is used in case of a power outage, this pump can pump up to 24,000 gallons of water.
