Frank has crawl space in his home that was exposed to the elements by an uncovered vent. The vent allowed moisture and other debris in his crawlspace, which led to mold and other problems. There was also a tarp on the floor of the space being used a vapor barrier, retailers often falsely advertise basic tarps as vapor barriers when in reality they do nothing.
Our team fixed Frank's problems with multiple CleanSpace solutions. First we used a dehumdifier to get rid of all the moisture. Then we installed CleanSpace vent covers to prevent anything else from coming into the crawl space, CleanSpace drainage matting to help flow any moisture to the Smart Drain that was also installed.
In East Jordan, MI, a homeowner was struggling with a sagging crawl space foundation in their historic home. After attempting to stabilize the floors with concrete blocks and wood planks, it became clear that a more permanent solution was needed. That’s when they reached out to Ayers.
Our team installed SmartJacks and supplemental beams to provide the necessary support and stabilize the sagging floors. Now, with a lasting solution in place, the homeowner can enjoy peace of mind, knowing their home’s foundation is secure and they won’t have to rely on makeshift DIY fixes again.
Michigan is a harsh place to live for both people and houses. Freezing winters filled with snow mixed with hot and humid summers due to the many lakes make it difficult for all of us. It is important for both health, and monetary benefits to keep your home's insulation as up to date as possible.
At Ayers Basement Systems, we recommend upgrading existing crawlspaces with two products: CleanSpace and SilverGlo. CleanSpace is a white vapor barrier that protects the house from invasive humidity and temperatures from the ground. SilverGlo (not pictured) goes on the wall to further insulate the crawlspace. With the addition of a sump pump, these upgrades will help to save money, reduce cold temperatures, and eliminate any organisms growing under our houses such as mold or dust mites.
Darryl has a seasonal waterfront home that had a water intrusion issue in the basement. Water was coming up from the cracks in the floor and the sump pump was not pumping the water out. We used the WaterGuard to collect the water and send it to a new sump pump. It is installed under the floor so you do not have an unsightly drain in your space. The new sump pump we installed, the TripleSafe, has 3 levels of protection to keep the home dry even if a pump fails or there is a power outage. We also installed the SaniDry XP dehumidifier to dry the space and filter the air. It stands up and can be stored in a corner or closet so that it can stay out of the way in your basement.
Bruce noticed the floor in his living room had a slight slant. It wasn't causing him too much trouble, but he didn't want the problem to worsen, so he called Ayers. A team of specialists stopped by his home and recommended SmartJacks. Designed to be far sturdier than store-bought floor jacks, SmartJacks are hot-dipped in galvanized steel and zinc-plated to ensure they last with the house. Bruce can't believe how level his living room floor is!
