The signs of water damage are visible in this Atlanta, MI basement, as the first picture shows. Water had been seeping in through the concrete blocks of these foundation walls, and with nowhere for it to go, it remained along the bottom of the wall.
The solutions our team installed to address this issue were the WaterGuard system and a TripleSafe sump pump. WaterGuard is a sub-floor drainage system that sits on top of the footing, capturing water from any leaks and rerouting it to the sump pump. The TripleSafe sump pump is the only of its kind—with three sump pumps in one liner, it functions even if one pump can’t keep up. A sump pump like this works to effectively pump water caught by the WaterGuard system out of your basement, keeping it dry at all times.
Don & Cheryl, homeowners from Atlanta, MI were experiencing the effects of a cold damp crawlspace below their home. The couple began seeing the formation of mold and their concern began to grow rapidly. Don searched online for crawlspace repair experts and almost immediately found us. Don & Cheryl read many reviews and felt confident calling us to provide them with solutions for their crawlspace. One afternoon, our appointment center received a call from the couple. They informed us of their desire to transform their crawlspace into dry, energy efficient space.
Upon going to Don & Cheryl’s home and assessing their crawlspace needs, we prescribed our CleanSpace crawlspace encapsulation system. The CleanSpace encapsulation product is a 20mm thick durable plastic lining that fully seals off the crawlspace from the harsh elements it faces below. Plus, the CleanSpace is made with anti-microbial properties that prevent mold growth, so our new friends can be confident their mold problem has been permanently solved. To supplement the CleanSpace, we also installed the CleanSpace drainage mat to ensure maximum water drainage to the already existing sump pump. Don & Cheryl also elected for us to install the SaniDry Sedona, a high-performance dehumidifier and filtration system. In our new friends’ crawlspace, the Sedona will help prevent moisture and reduce musty odors. Thanks to this crawlspace encapsulation system, Don & Cheryl can rest assured knowing their crawlspace is a mold-free and dry environment.
This homeowner has begun to notice some moisture build-up in their crawlspace. Nothing major yet, but even the smallest amount of water can turn into big problems. In order to fix this issue and avoid further problems in the future, we needed to encapsulate this crawlspace.
Inside the Basement Systems encapsulation system is the CleanSpace liner. This is a plastic sheet that is designed to permanently keep away any moisture and air. It is placed completely over the walls and floor, creating a constant blockage to anything outside of it.
Another problem that is common with crawlspaces is cold air. If cold air gets into your crawlspace, it will obviously make the crawlspace cold. Due to the stack effect however, that cold air will travel throughout your entire home, causing you to use more heat. Luckily, our SilverGlo insulation on the block walls helps reflect heat back into the home, making floors warmer and heating cost lower.
Not only will this homeowner have a healthy crawlspace, but their entire home will be able to maintain a healthy environment.
Michigan winters can be brutal especially Up North. However, they’re inevitable so the best thing to do is to stay prepared. Homeowners Doug and Sandy were concerned about their crawlspace when they noticed the lack of insulation throughout the area. Having a well-insulated crawlspace ensures that your pipes do not freeze or burst during the cold months, ultimately protecting your structure from mold and rot. To help the Atlanta, Michigan couple, Systems Design Specialist Levi and his team installed our CleanSpace Vapor Barrier Liner. The thick, pool liner material acts as a barrier preventing water vapor and humidity from passing through. In combination with the CleanSpace Liner, the SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier can remove up to 100 pints of moisture per day and automatically drains to the WaterGuard system.
Lastly the crew needed to tackle the old fiberglass insulation in the ceiling. We see this type of insulation in many homes and in most cases the material becomes a problem in the future. When fiberglass insulation becomes wet or damp it does not insulate as well as dry insulation. The weight from the moisture will pull it from the ceiling, leaving It messy and scattered across the perimeter. To combat the issue, we chose to insulate around Doug and Sandy’s pipes with our Froth-Pak Spray Insulation. The spray insulation is quick to install, made from inorganic and doesn’t absorb ambient moisture.
Quinn's concerns about her foundation support were growing. The wooden support posts in her basement were rotting. She called Ayers for our foundation repair options. We sent a team to her home for a free inspection to determine the appropriate repair option. SmartJacks are the right solution for Quinn's basement. SmartJacks provide supplemental column support. We installed this system by attaching steel support beams to the floor joists and a sturdy base in the subfloor. The steel columns are adjusted to raise the floors to a level position. Quinn's new SmartJack system will provide a permanent solution to support issues!
