Lori recently bought a new second home lake house in an area with many natural springs. She wanted to remodel the house but was unable to until she addressed her sinking foundation. After our initial consultation we informed Lori we would need to install SmartJacks to stabilize the home. SmartJacks are steel supports to balance the foundation of your crawl space, lifting it to its original position. They are adjustable so that as your home adjusts and settles, it can always be supported. We also installed CleanSpace Wall System. CleanSpace uses a thick plastic liner along basement and crawl space walls to keep them dry and last decades longer. After these few adjustments, Lori can continue her home's remodel and knows that she can live there safely for years to come.
Sally was in serious need of a solution for her bowing foundation wall in her 100 year-old Harrison, MI home. She looked around at the possible options and decided on trusting our professionals at Ayers! We sent a crew to inspect her basement that had the concerning crack in it and they decided on PowerBrace.
With PowerBrace installed, this will correct the cracked concrete wall in her basement. This is a foundation repair system that will secure bowing walls in place. Outside pressures are typically the main culprit that cause your basement walls to crack or tilt. This system will not only secure the wall in place, but it will also straighten them over time. The PowerBrace consists of steel beams that stretch the length of the wall and are installed in the floor at the base of the wall then are attached to the joists above the wall.
With a new trustworthy system in place keeping her wall secured, Sally is now relieved of the stress she had over the safety of her home!
This bowing basement wall was in need of serious help. Stair-step cracks were found, which is a common sign of wall failure in block foundation walls. This often means that the problem is worsening because as the wall continues to bow, the corners have to rely on adjacent walls to hold it up, creating the stair-step cracks.
We installed the PowerBrace system to support the basement wall. This system involves steel beams that are secured to joists above the wall with steel brackets. The beams are coated in zinc to prevent corrosion and the braces use a joist reinforcement technique to transfer the weight of the wall evenly across the basement ceiling so the floor above is not disturbed.
Missy and Dan L. contacted us because they had unstable joists in their home that needed added support to eliminate sagging floors above. The block foundation wall in the basement was cracked and unstable, which was causing the floor joists to weaken and sag. We installed the PowerBrace system to stabilize the wall and support the joists. Steel I-beams that stretched the length of the wall were installed in the floor at the base of the wall and then attached to the joists above the wall. Once the system was secured into place with steel brackets, the beams acted as braces to hold the wall in place while potentially shifting it back to its proper position over time.
Wanda was frustrated with her noisy dehumidifier constantly running due to a moist crawl space. She called Ayer's, and they transformed the space using our Vapor Barrier product.
