This Hastings, MI home was suffering from bowing walls. The initial tell for the owner was the stair-step cracking seen in the before picture. Once the system design specialist confirmed the inward bowing walls, the owner called on our crew to solve the problem.
After selecting to use our Geo-Lock Wall Anchor System as the solution, the homeowner was forced to wait until the ground thawed for production to occur. Once the soil was no longer frozen solid, the crew was able to excavate next to the wall and place the earth anchors into hard-packed distant soil. The anchors were then attached to the wall using steel tie backs and Geo-Lock wall plates, like those pictured in the after photo. Essentially, the anchors will stabilize the foundation while pulling the collapsing wall back to its original position.
When this customer decided to transform his basement den into a bedroom, he was informed by city codes that he had to convert one of the windows. Egress windows are much larger than the basic rectangular basement windows and offer a second point of escape in the event of a fire. The metal well and ladder in the after photo can be accessed in the same way as usual windows, plus the openness of the well will provide the room with much more light the typical window.
To replace the old window, the crew first excavated the soil surrounding the window and made room for the well. Once the wall and previous window were cut away, the 30 X 48 window was inserted. Next, the metal well - which will protect the window from water and erosion - was placed into the ground. After the soil was backfilled to secure the well in place, the crew began the clean process. This new window will not only bring the bedroom up to code, it will also make it much more livable. If you’re interested in a replacement window, give us a call for a free estimate. We also offer plastic waterproof lids for added protection from the elements
This porch step had sunk significantly on one side and the sidewalk had become significantly uneven. PolyLevel, a process in which high-density polymers are injected into the voids under the concrete to fill them and lift the slabs, was a perfect solution. It didn't take much for these slabs to rise up and level out so that they look just as good as the day they were poured.
Two pieces of concrete meeting at an uneven level is a cause for some concern. Not only does it create an unsightly attraction, but it poses a serious tripping hazard if we're talking about a sidwalk. That's why this family in Hastings, MI called us. Using our patented PolyLevel injection foam, we were able to raise this sidwalk back to its original position. After the injection, the owners were able to walk on their slab in as little as 15 minutes.
