Ayers Basement Systems Before & After Photos

Air leaks can cause your bills to rise and majorly overwork your furnace. We find that most air leaks are in hard to reach places making them hard to seal off. After this crawl space was penetrated by water back in the early spring, the homeowners gave us a call to find out more about their repair options. When our system design specialist arrived he noticed that there was no standing water, but the crawl space was extremely moist. To counter this problem, he drew up a plan for a SaniDry CX dehumidifier and a SmartSump sump pump. SmartSump is our solution for providing sump pumps inside of crawl spaces.  The sump is smaller sized but powerful enough to keep any crawl space dry. SaniDry CX dehumidifiers are self-draining, so the moisture that was so prevalent in the crawl space when our design specialist visited won’t occur again. The dehumidifier can be seen hanging from the ceiling in the after photo with a hose connecting it to the SmartSump for discharge. Neither moisture nor standing water will be a problem for this crawl space again.

After noticing large cracks in his basement walls, Don became concerned about his foundation and rightfully so.  The stair step cracks running below the window of the before photo are one of a few key signs that a basement wall is bowing inward from pressure. This type of structural problem can mean the destruction of a home’s foundation if it isn’t properly and timely addressed. So when Don gave us a call, we rushed over to help him out.

The beams in the after photo, along with the tightening bracket used to connect them to the floor joists, make up the PowerBrace Wall Repair System. Tightening the bracket will push back on the walls and put a stop to the inward pressure. With any luck, the PowerBrace beams won’t only stop Don’s walls from bowing, they may actually push them back to their original position, as well. 

One look at this wall in a Holland, MI basement, and you know that something isn’t right. This slanting wall is also known as a bowed wall and is usually the result of hydrostatic pressure—when the soil around the foundation changes causing pressure to build and press against the foundation. Bowed walls can get worse over time, but with PowerBraces, they can actually get better.  These zinc-coated beams were installed along the wall, and will be tightened over time, gradually improving the condition of the wall and returning it back to the right place.

This couple in Holland,MI wanted to clean up and encapsulate their crawlspace, hopefully making it a usable storage space for kayaks and other water sports supplies. We were able to help them accomplish that goal thanks to our durable CleanSpace material. Most moisture barriers from crawl spaces consist of thin plastic that easily rips and doesn't attach well to walls. The CleanSpace material is strong and thick and is difficult to rip. SilverGlo insulation also lines the walls to help reflect warmth back into the home and frothpak in the rim joists and cracks helps to seal off any openings. This crawl space is now in tip top shape.
