Basement Waterproofing Before & After Photos

One of our crews at Ayers inspected Sheila's North Adams, Michigan, home to decipher the best solution for water intrusion. We determined our WaterGuard system would be the best option to keep water outside the home. WaterGuard, a specially designed interior drainage system, collects water leaks and directs them to a sump pump. We installed this piping along the perimeter of the basement on top of the foundation's footing. As water leaks through the walls and falls to the floor, WaterGuard collects it within the subfloor drain, preventing water damage. Pouring concrete over the system conceals it within the basement floor. Sheila is grateful to receive the professional help her basement desperately requires!

Christine noticed her old sump pump was no longer doing the trick. It wasn't keeping up with the water leaking into the basement, so she called Ayers for a more efficient replacement. Sally has a poured concrete foundation in her Harrison, MI home. Horizontal cracks were beginning to emerge, threatening the integrity of her home. She called Ayers for an inspection and we determined that PowerBraces would be the best solution for her. 

PowerBraces are steel supports that secure to the joists above the foundation. They evenly distribute the weight of the home, strengthening the foundation over time. Sally was grateful that we could provide her with a more stable home to live in.

Jennie and Tom's home was built in 1949, and was built atop a crawl space. They use their crawl space for additional storage, but the cold air that was coming through the floors was terrible. The floors were constantly freezing. The couple called Ayers for an inspection and our crew determined the couple would need the CleanSpace Wall System, as well as rim joist insulation. 

CleanSpace Wall System is a moisture barrier that uses a thick plastic liner along crawlspace walls to keep them dry and last decades longer. It also has antibacterial properties that prevent mold and bacteria growth. Damp air takes more energy to heat and cool. Cutting down on the moisture in the crawl space, in turn, will cut down on how much it costs to heat or cool the home. Rim joist insulation is done with spray foam to ensure the crawl space is tightly sealed. 

The job went off without a hitch, and Jennie was looking forward to warmer floors in the winder. Tom and Jennie were able to move their belongings back into the crawl space and know everything will remain cool, dry, and safe. 

This Harrison, MI home had just been put on the market when the owners were told that the crawl space would need to be dried out before the home could be sold. Looking for a solution that would satisfy both the inspector and buyers without breaking the bank, the owners gave Ayers a call.

To pump water out and keep it that way, the crew installed a SmartSump. The sump will collect any water that enters the crawl space and direct it outside for drainage. Before completing the job, the crew covered the drainage pipe seen in the after photo with gravel. The owners chose to go with the 1/3 horse power pump which is capable of pumping out 2,500 gallons per hour. With any water that passes through the dirt floor being swiftly removed, this crawl space will no longer hinder sales.
