The damp and humid environment in the homeowner's crawl space is the likely suspect of the musty smell. Looking to totally seal their basement, homewoners called our team. So in order to prevent air flow from their basement to the rest of their home, our team insulated their rim joists. Small cracks and seams can exist around rim joists, but after insulating them all of those cracks are sealed off. With airtight insulation there is a reduction in heat loss. 

Scott already had a sump pump, but it could not handle the amount of water entering his basement. Tired of dealing with his basement flooding, he called our team. This crawl space was built in the 1920's and was showing some obvious signs of age and needed some fixing up. The dirt floor in this crawl space was allowing unwanted moisture in. The earth is damp which means when the earth is exposed in your home (mostly in crawl spaces), the damp soil dries into the house and the water vapor will move it upward to your living space. There is also water from the air since this crawl space has vented windows. Vented windows in a crawl space do more harm than good and they should be permanently sealed off

Having a wet or damp crawl space can have many different negative effects. These effects include: dust mites, sticking (swollen) doors and windows, smelly carpets, wood rot, increased utility bills, aggravated asthma/allergies and more. It's best to get a wet crawl space taken care of as soon as possible. 

To help with all of the moisture in this crawl space we installed our CleanSpace system. One of Ed’s basement walls was bowing about 3/4 of an inch into the basement. So he called our team and we installed PowerBrace. PowerBrace is a foundation repair system created to secure basement walls in place. Often outside pressures can cause your basement walls to crack or tilt, this foundation repair system counteracts these pressures by keeping your basement walls in place. Over time, the system can be tightened to not only secure the walls in place, but to also straighten them.
