We received a call from a customer in Pewamo, Michigan. They told us that his basement had some water problems on the floor. We came to their property and gave them a free estimate, and decided to install many things including a SuperSump which will drain water out of the basement much better than their current waterproofing system. The SuperSump contains a pump stand (prevents clogging of any debris in the sump liner), pump alarm (for when the basement floods), and an airtight sump lid with a floor drain in it (helps water to go down but not air to come up).
We quickly inspected Marilyn's failing support beams in her crawl space, which desperately required a permanent solution. The wooden beams split due to rotting, so our Ayers team suggested SmartJacks. These jacks consist of galvanized steel for corrosion resistance. We attached them to a supplemental support beam above and rested the jacks on a sturdy base within the floor. SmartJacks can support loads of more than 60,000 pounds. Marilyn now feels assured of the safety of her crawl space support system!
Cheryl was sick of the sagging floor in her family room. The room became unusable, so she knew she needed to ask Ayers for help. We sent a team of experts to examine the issue and recommend a solution. Due to the sturdy base and adjustable feature provided by SmartJacks, they decided this was the best solution. SmartJacks are a system of floor jacks hot-dipped in galvanized steel, zinc-plated, and reinforced to bear large loads. Cheryl is so happy to enjoy her space with the whole family!
Many people assume that a full crawl space encapsulation is their only option to keeping the area dry. While that’s probably the most fool-proof way to keep the crawlspace free of moisture and mold, it’s also possible to only install the CleanSpace system on the sections that need it most. As the second photo shows, our team installed the durable plastic liner and drainage matting only over the shelf areas to form a moisture barrier. A TripleSafe sump pump was also installed to eliminate groundwater in the space, as well as an energy efficient SaniDry dehumidifier to keep it dry.
Following the storm, Brian realized water flooded into his basement. He knew the standing water couldn't stay, so he called Ayers for assistance. We sent our professionals to his house, who recommended WaterGuard, a drainage piping system designed to be placed on top of the footing rather than alongside it. This prevents drainage pipe clogging by catching water and avoiding soil. Brian loves having a dry basement!
