Crawl Space Repair Before & After Photos

Mike was in need of encapsulation for his crawl space that would not only waterproof it but also prevent musty smells from coming from this space. After calling Ayers we had a team take a look to decipher the best course of action. Their recommendations to him were to have us install CleanSpace as this is a thick, durable and waterproof liner meant to cover the crawl space floor. The vapor barrier property it holds will prevent moisture that leads to the development of bacteria or mold. This will keep his crawl space clean and prevent gross smells!

Michigan's ever-changing weather conditions had led to persistent moisture issues in Darrin's crawl space.

Seeking a solution, he turned to Ayers Basement Systems. After a thorough inspection, Ayers recommended the CleanSpace system to address the moisture. Darrin's home was no longer under the threat of water damage, and his crawl space was now a place of safety and security! 

This wasn’t the first time that these Spruce, MI customers had looked for a crawl space solution. The cinder blocks support system in the before photo are a testament to that. They were installed after the last time the crawl space shifted. The crawl space had shifted quite a few time over the years because the home was located above a natural spring, so the homeowners doubted that the cinder blocks would be their last repair to the crawl space. However, the SmartJack system and steel support beams in the after photo could be.

While the SmartJack system will essentially provide the same support as the cinderblocks, they have the unique advantage of being installed into the ground. The SmartJacks are installed into excavated portions of the ground and then backfilled with a cement and gravel mixture to keep them in place. With any luck, this crawl space won't have to worry about any more shifts or tilts for a long time. 

John is a pastor at a church in Utica, Michigan, who had concerns about the support beams in the basement, so he called Ayers for an inspection. Our crew determined we should install CleanSpace to tidy things up and offer protection in this space and SmartJacks for better support. CleanSpace is a thick plastic liner made with waterproof material. The vapor barrier it holds will prevent the buildup of moisture. Excess moisture allows mold and bacteria to thrive. Next, we installed SmartJacks to replace the weak support beams. We installed this repair system by attaching steel support beams to the floor joists and a sturdy base in the subfloor. Once installed, the posts are adjusted to raise the floors to a position that is level. John is ecstatic about the changes that make this church a safer place!

One of our customers called us about their crawlspace which was dirty and damp. They didn't know how to fix it so they wanted our professional help.  We gave them a free estimate and decided to install a combination of some of our fantastic products. We installed our SmartJack system which helps reinforce the floors above it so that they will never sag. The SmartJack is a support system used to stabilize and level the floor joists in a crawl space. This system can support up to 60,000 pounds. The SmartJack system is placed on strong concrete fillings that have replaced the soil in that small location underneath the SmartJack.

We also installed some Clean Space which is the perfect mold fighting technology that also improves the look of any crawlspace. CleanSpace is a 20 mil thick plastic liner that fits to the crawl space to completely seal the home from the earth. Polyester cord reinforcement allows for a lot of durability, to make it last longer than the home will. This liner also contains an antimicrobial additive to prevent mold. This liner was also combined with CleanSpace vent covers to insulate and seal the air out, so that the crawlspace is not affected by the outside environment. This will save the homeowner a lot of money on air conditioning and heating costs.
