Our customer called for an estimate on installing an egress window in their basement. Egress windows are necessary to convert a basement into a bedroom and add light to other habitable space options.
A customer had water entering her crawl space and she couldn't keep it out. So our team installed TripleSafe, a sump pump system that’s main goal is to keep your basement dry. It provides ultimate protection against all basement leakage and any moisture problems because it has three pumps within this one system. One of the pumps is battery powered so that the system can work even during power outages.
This Fennville homeowner had standing water in his mostly finished basement. It was bubbling up from a crack in the floor but he did not have a a sump pump or any other way for the water to exit the home, causing the flooding. We used the TripleSafe sump pump to send the water outside of the home and keep the basement dry. This sump pump provides 3 levels of protection, with the last level being a back-up battery to keep water being pumped out in case of a pump malfunction, tripped circuit, or a power outage. We also used the IceGuard to protect the home from flooding in case of a frozen discharge line. The IceGuard gives the water a secondary escape route through slotted openings so the water won't back up and cause the sump pump to stop working.
The homeowner's crawlspace was a mix of dirt and concrete floors, contributing to his home's high humidity levels and unpleasant odors. These issues stemmed from improper encapsulation, leading to moisture buildup and poor air quality. To address the humidity and odor problem, Ayers encapsulated the crawlspaces by installing a vapor barrier system on the walls and floors. The joists were insulated to protect against moisture, and drainage matting was placed to help manage water under the vapor barrier. A dehumidifier system (Sanidry) was connected to the existing sump pump to control the humidity. This approach effectively reduced the moisture and improved air quality in Larry’s basement, solving the issues he was previously facing
This is a unique before and after, in that the before picture was taken inside of the home and the during/after shot is from outside in the excavated soil.
We were called out to this home after the owner noticed that water was leaking in. He had built the home himself and knew right away what the problem was. The hole in the wall where the sewer pipe entered the basement had turned into a leak for ground water. Uninterested in building an entirely new wall, he decided to give Ayers a call for help.
After discussing possible fixes with the homeowner, the team came up with an idea for a solution that was part interior and exterior. The inside cracks would be sealed over with FlexiSpan, a sealant designed to flex with wall movement without washing away. Since the water was flowing from outside, it was important that a barrier be put over the exterior cracks. Sentry Seal is a crack repair product installed once soil has been excavated away from the foundation. The waterproof membrane was put in place over the crack on the exterior side and will stand up to ground water, soil, and whatever else the elements throw its way. This basement will now stay as dry as it would with a brand new wall but without the lengthy and costly installation.
