Gloria has lived in her Sand Lake, MI home for about 40 years. She started to notice that several of the walls in her 100-year-old barn had begun to bow about 5 years ago. Recently, she noticed it’s gotten worse and was worried that barn would fall down while she was in Florida for the winter.
She called Ayers for an inspection and our crew determined that hydrostatic pressure was the main cause of the sever bowing walls. Hydrostatic pressure is a buildup of water pressure in the soil pushing against foundation walls. Years of this has caused the barn walls to collapse in on themselves, bowing the walls overtime. Our crew determined that she would need GeoLock Anchors to stabilize her barn for good.
GeoLock Wall Anchors permanently stops foundational shifting. The anchors have 3 parts. The first part is a plate on the interior foundation wall. A steel cable is drilled through the plate into the soil directed away from the home. The final part of the GeoLock Anchor is a second plate that is anchored to the other side of the cable. The cables can be tightened overtime for continued maximum stabilization.
Gloria was ecstatic with the work the Ayers crew did. We were able to help her stabilize the walls of her barn, and keep it standing for another 100 years!
Lee realized that water would appear on his basement floor after heavy rains. Worried about water damage, he called Ayers for permanent waterproofing solutions. After our system design specialist inspected his basement, he recommended our WaterGuard and TripleSafe sump pump system. WaterGuard is our interior drainage system that collects water leaking through the walls. We install this solution in the subfloor around the basement's perimeter. We conceal the drain with concrete. Next, we hooked this system to TripleSafe. This three-in-one sump pump will keep the water out of the home even during power outages. Lee is feeling relieved now that his basement will remain dry indefinitely!
Cynthia noticed water leaking from the seams between the floor and walls in her basement. She spent the last few days trying to mop up the water and eventually called Ayers to learn about our waterproofing solutions. Our team of specialists stopped by her home and recommended installing the WaterGuard drainage pipe system. Compared to most systems, WaterGuard reduces drainage pipe clogs by sitting on top of the home's footing rather than alongside it. Cynthia is happy to put her mop away!
Every time ground water rose, water leaked into this basement. The result was mold and efflorescence on the walls. There was also damage to the outside of the exposed block walls from freezing.
We needed to find a way to get the basement dry, keep it that way, and stop the mold problem from recurring.
We installed a new SuperSump pump system as well as the WaterGuard perimeter drain to remove the water and keep the basement dry. Then the walls were covered with our CleanSpace wall vapor barrier system to prevent naturally occurring wall water vapor from entering the basement.
Now the basement will be protected from both rising groundwater and ambient moisture from the concrete walls, eliminating both mold and flooding.
As often happens with dirt floor crawl spaces, Alan noticed that his crawl space was leaking and causing the foundation to settle.
We installed the CleanSpace encapsulation system to protect the space from water vapor. SilverGlo and TerraBlock insulation products will also help keep the crawl space air from entering the house above, meaning more comfortable temperatures and lower energy bills.
