Ayers Basement Systems Before & After Photos

Gary was worried about moisture creeping into his house from the crawl space. He called Ayers to learn about our vapor barrier solutions. We sent a team of experts to inspect the location and they decided to install CleanSpace. Designed to eliminate all outside air, moisture, and any unwanted pests, CleanSpace is a plastic sheet wrap for the crawl space floor. The barrier is installed on floors and walls to ensure an uninterrupted defense and a clean-look finish. CleanSpace is also energy-efficient and more durable than standard plastic wrap so it won't tear when walked on. 

We received a call from a customer in Pewamo, Michigan. They told us that his basement had some water problems on the floor. We came to their property and gave them a free estimate, and decided to install many things including a SuperSump which will drain water out of the basement much better than their current waterproofing system. The SuperSump contains a pump stand (prevents clogging of any debris in the sump liner), pump alarm (for when the basement floods), and an airtight sump lid with a floor drain in it (helps water to go down but not air to come up).

We quickly inspected Marilyn's failing support beams in her crawl space, which desperately required a permanent solution. The wooden beams split due to rotting, so our Ayers team suggested SmartJacks. These jacks consist of galvanized steel for corrosion resistance. We attached them to a supplemental support beam above and rested the jacks on a sturdy base within the floor. SmartJacks can support loads of more than 60,000 pounds. Marilyn now feels assured of the safety of her crawl space support system!

This family cottage was recently passed down and the new owner decided her first change to the property would be to waterproof the crawl space. She noticed standing water was pooling and was concerned that the proximity of the cottage to the lake would cause it to happen again. Though when she called she was only looking for a sump pump, our system design specialist explained that if only a pump was installed the crawl space would still be at risk. That’s why when the crew went out they installed a full crawl space encapsulation to go along with the sump pump.

One of the great benefits of CleanSpace is its ability to be wrapped around everything in a crawl space. From walls to floors and piers, it doesn’t matter because CleanSpace can do it all. With a new SmartSump also installed, water will be swiftly discharged if it penetrates the dirt floor or the block walls. The plastic liner is ultra-durable and inorganic so mold won’t grow on it or the wooden piers as it was doing in the past.  It’s frustrating to have crawl space problems in the home you live in every day, but it’s equally frustrating to have them in a vacation home. This cottage up north in Kewadin, MI was a retreat for East Lansing, MI residents, so they knew they had to do something when they realized the crawl space of the cottage was damp and starting to get moldy.

Our team visited the cottage and got right to work encapsulating the crawl space. We added Terrablock insulation on the floors and SilverGlo insulation to the walls to keep the crawl space warm before installing CleanSpace. This durable liner will provide a barrier to moisture and the antimicrobial additive that’s manufactured into the liner will keep mold away. Adding a SaniDry dehumidifier to eliminate the moisture in the air was the last step to making this cottage nice and dry.
