Tricia worried the moisture seeping into her basement and onto the floor would ruin her belongings. She didn't know how to fix the problem, but knew she couldn't do it alone, so she called Ayers for help. We sent a crew of specialists to her house and after assessing the situation, they recommended installing the CleanSpace vapor barrier. CleanSpace is designed with antimicrobial material to eliminate moisture and prevent mold growth. Tricia has a dry basement once again!
Julia was concerned about old, rusty support beams in her crawl space. They were no longer stabilizing her floors, leading to sagging, so she called Ayers. We determined from an inspection that SmartJacks would help with stabilization. This solution is an adjustable supplemental support system used for sagging crawl spaces. SmartJacks are installed by attaching steel support beams to the floor joists and rest on a sturdy base in the ground. They even can support loads of more than 60,000 pounds. Julia also won't have to worry about corrosion since they consist of galvanized steel for corrosion resistance!
Our customer called when the horizontal crack in her basement wall started getting bigger. There was no water coming in, but the wall was starting to bow. We used PowerBraces to stabilize the wall, and by tightening them each year we can hopefully straighten the wall over time.
The crew took a trip out to Gobles, MI to repair the foundation on this family cottage. Walls start to bow when the pressure of expanding soil becomes too much and pushes them inward. One of the telltale signs of a bowing foundation is cracking that resembles stair steps appearing on the basement walls. These walls were being pushed so much that two different foundation solutions were needed: our Geo-Lock Wall Anchors and PowerBrace system. The PowerBrace system is pictured in the after photo.
In total, 12 different PowerBrace beams were used to push the crumbling walls back to an upright position. Since the system can be tightened whenever it's needed, the walls will continue to improve and straighten until they return back to their original position. The owners of this cottage can now rest easy when they visit, well easier because family trips are stressful enough without crumbling walls.
At Ayers’ Basement Systems, making your home safe and comfortable is our top priority. That’s why when Sidney told us about her husband’s health concerns, we gladly took on the task of installing replacement egress windows that were up-to-code, beautifully crafted, and that provide a variety of benefits.
Our egress window wells feature durable, built-in steps that allow easy access to a safe exit in case of an emergency. They are even equipped with polycarbonate window well covers that can hold up to 500 pounds of weight.
