This Grand Rapids homeowner had a crawl space with a dirt floor and wanted it to be sealed off. He called us for a solution to sealing it off and making it cleaner. We installed the CleanSpace Crawl Space Vapor Barrier. The CleanSpace is a thinck, durable liner that looks similar to a pool liner. It prevents water vapor and humidity from passing through into your crawl space. By keeping the space dry, it also protects the stucture from mold and rot.
Miriam decided to encapsulate her crawl space. Her crawl space walls and floor are made of concrete and she wants to protect it from the earth. We installed our CleanSpace Liner and drainage matting. The drainage matting creates a barrier between the liner and the ground, keeping any possible water outside of the crawlspace. The CleanSpace liner is made of a durable plastic similar to a pool liner. The liner protects the crawlspace from allowing any water vapor to enter that could create mold and bacteria growth detrimental to the family’s health.
The easiest way to waterproof a basement is from the inside. These homeowners has just bought the home and noticed in the spring when it rains they get a wet basement. The water was coming in through the walls which were poured concrete, a very porous material. We knew the best solution to this wet basement was our WaterGuard system.
Over the years contractors have been installing systems similair to WaterGuard but they just don't work as well. We have designed our system to sit above the footing rather than alongside it so mud, dirt and other debris can't get in and clog it. It also is built with a 3/8 inch gap between the floor and the wall to drain any water that comes in through the walls. The drain outlet to the sump is also large to allow all of the water to properly drain and exit your basement.
As winter is getting closer, we're not the only ones feeling chilled. Our beloved homes also are feeling a little bit cold. This affects not only the house and our comfort, but also our energy bills. Fixing this involves a couple of products such as CleanSpace, SilverGlo, and FrothPak. Starting with CleanSpace, we lay it on the floor as a vapor barrier as well as insulation. SilverGlo is used for the walls, working as insulation to seperate the house from the ground. FrothPak is a sprayable insulation that we use to fill the gaps in hard to reach places like rim joists, furthering the potential of insulation. With all of these additions, you can start seeing savings on energy bills, as well as warm up your house to survive the brutal Michigan winters!
Josh's front porch is shifted and it is moving away from the home. The brick column at the edge of the porch is cracking and the area around it is settled. Josh is worried that the porch will pull on the house and make more issues than there already is. We helped them out by installing Helical Piers which can have sections added to reach the hard soil it anchors into. The pier will stabilize the porch as well as possibly returning it to the original position. The pier system has fast year-round installation too so the homeowners will not be disturbed.
