The owners of this home had placed a plastic liner over the floor of their crawl space in hopes of keeping moisture out. They thought this was working until they kept noticing a “musty crawl space” smell. The liner they installed was simply covering the wet ground with nowhere for it to go, so it’s likely that mold started to grow. Thankfully, they contacted Ayers and upgraded to CleanSpace.

CleanSpace is significantly thicker than most crawl space liners, and is made of many layers of polyester cord reinforced, making it very durable. The liner is laid on top of dimpled drainage matting, which allows water beneath the liner to flow to the sump pump. CleanSpace is also manufactured with an antimicrobial additive, preventing mold growth on the backside of the liner.

This crawl space liner provides full encapsulation keeping moisture and mold out.

Job Stories From Cheboygan, MI
Leaky Basement When it Rains in Cheboygan, MI

Sherie G. of Cheboygan, Mi was having water trouble in her basement before she gave us a call. Water like this can cause structural as well as comfort issues in your home. Thankfully, we had a solution.

We installed one of our favorite patented waterproofing products: The WaterGuard French drain system. WaterGuard rests below the basement floor and above the foundation footing, collecting all the water that seeps into the basement from the walls. After this water is collected, it is redirected to the sump pump to be pumped up and out of the home.

This installment now gives Sherie a peace of mind when it comes to water in her basement.

Keeping Cheboygan, MI Basement Dry

This home had water seeping into the basement through the walls. The homeowner wanted a solution that completely waterproof her basement and prevent any further damage.

We installed the effective WaterGuard system to eliminate the intruding water. We started by excavating the flooring around the interior perimeter of the basement. We then placed the specialized drainage pipes at the base of each wall to ensure water was being collected at any point in the area. Water coming in through the walls drained into the pipes and was then carried to the home’s sump pump to be pumped outside of the home. We also installed inspection ports to ensure we have access to the underground system if needed.

I live in a wet area. I get a little water in my crawl when it is seasonally wet. About 1/4". Also I have one pipe that freezes when it is below 15 degrees. House is 1000 SF, crawl is about 4/5 blocks high and the access to the crawl is small. More than big enough for an adult to get down there.

Addison Drive in Cheboygan
We moved into our house 5 years ago. Previous homeowners dug out around the basement and sealed it. There was always a tad bit of water in one corner. Last year after all the rain the whole basement started to bring in water. My husband is severely allergic to mold and it's starting to cause a big problem. We would love to know what we have to go about doing to get a free estimate. Thank You!
S Extension Rd in Cheboygan
Our crawl space seems very dry. We do have a radon level of 6.7, 7.3 and 7.5 pCi/L. Something is causing our stuffiness, coughing and allergy type symptoms. We were told that there appears to be a gas in the crawl space. We have geothermal heat and were told to keep doors and windows shut. We plan to put vents in the front and back of the house. Your info may give us some better ideas. Thank you!
