Theresa and Don have been residents to their home for 10 years and since they moved in they have had on and off troubles. They use their crawlspace quite often and the odors are just getting worse. Judy and Marvin had been dealing with foundation issues for years now. Their Spruce, MI home was over an underground natural spring. In the past year, the springs had caused the crawl space to shift a full four inches. After using several different repairs over the years, Judy and Marvin wanted a permanent solution that would keep their crawl space foundation from tipping again.
Our system design specialist took a trip out to Spruce and introduced the owners to our SmartJack System. The plan our specialist drew up called for 14 different SmartJacks and several new supplemental beams to reinforce the structure and keep it stable. Once the SmartJacks were attached to both the new and preexisting supplemental beams in the crawl space, they were raised to a height that would level out the floor above. Then, the SmartJacks were covered with a mixture of concrete and gravel that would hold them in place.
Judy and Marvin shouldn’t have to worry about any more shifts in their foundation, thanks to the SmartJack System.
Bob called to have us look at a house he was interested in purchasing. The house was 100 years old and had some pretty nasty spots in the basement. This was due to groundwater seepage, which is common in older homes.
In addition to the ambient moisture putting the basement at risk for mold, the water seeping through the walls also made everything look just plain ugly. To take care of the water, we installed WaterGuard below-floor drain system in the floor under the affected area and extended the discharge line far from the house to prevent the discharged water from seeping right back in. We also put in a new sump pump and a SaniDry dehumidifier.
To spruce up the look of the basement a bit, we covered the nasty walls with CleanSpace vapor barrier. Not only will the CleanSpace give it a bright, clean look, but it will also help protect the basement from ambient moisture.
Kathleen and Richard B. were moving into their lakeside cottage but needed to address some issues with their crawl space first. Richard noticed that the space was damp and had a musty smell. He also found white mold, which was very concerning. The couple wanted to resolve these issues before moving in and looked to Basement Systems for an effective solution.
The crew decided that installing CleanSpace and a SaniDry CX dehumidifier would solve their crawl space issues. The reason for their damp and moldy crawl space is that water vapor and any other source of water from the earth is present within the space. This creates the ideal home for mold to thrive in. Cleanspace is a durable plastic liner that is placed in a crawl space to keep the outside environment from getting in. The liner is waterproof so it will prevent water from getting in through leaks or evaporation. SaniDry CX is an efficient dehumidifier that replaces the wet air in a crawl space with filtered dry air. This will further dry the space and make the damp smell and feeling go away.
Kathleen and Richard can now move into their cottage without worrying about the effects of an unmanaged crawlspace.
The homeowners were noticing a mildew smell coming from their basement due to the moisture they had down there. They had water pooling on their basement floor and needed a solution to fix it.
Our professional team installed a SuperSump sump pump. The SuperSump is a full-featured system that includes the best components available. It includes the SuperLiner, which is an airtight lid that looks more attractive, keeps pests out and eliminates safety hazard of an open sump pump. It has a floor drain in case an unforeseen accident puts water on your basement floor. It includes a WaterWatch Alarm, which alerts you if the water level rises above the sump pump intake. It has a cast-iron pump to prevent overheating and burnout. It has a CleanPump pump stand that elevates the sump pump to prevent clogging. It has a check valve to prevent pumped water from re-entering. Lastly, it has an improved float valve to ensure long term performance.
Next, they installed the WaterGuard long lasting interior perimeter drainage system. WaterGuard collects seepage from your floors and walls by sitting on the top of the footing in your basement. Becuase the product is on the top of the footing it never gets clogged. The water is collected in the drainage system and transferred to the sump pump. The sump pump then removes the water from the home.
Our professional team also installed the BrightWall Paneling System. The BrightWall system works with the basement perimeter waterproofing system to keep your basement dry. The panels will direct water seepage down to the perimeter drain lines, which then carry the water to the sump pump to be removed. The BrightWall panels not only keep your basement dry, but they also transform your damp, ugly basement walls into bright, beautiful walls that never need paint or other maintenance.
Lastly, our team installed the SaniDry XP dehumidifier. The SaniDry XP is a powerful and effective dehumidifier that is designed to perform in extremely damp environments, such as basements. The SaniDry XP removes 10 times more water than the typical dehumidifier while using the same energy to run. The water drains from the unit automatically, so there is no need to empty it!
All of these products helped the homeowners eliminate the moisture and the mildew smell in their basement!
This 100 year old home had water leaking all over. There was two different levels to the basement and there was nothing installed for waterproofing, such as a drainage system.
We were able to install our WaterGuard system for this leaking basement. WaterGuard is a perimeter system that is installed above the footing rather than alongside it so no mud or debris gets inside. It also has a built in 3/8 inch gap between the floor and wall to drain any wall leaks. This system once installed will direct any water that comes into the basement to the sump pump where it can be pumped out of the basement.
One morning our call center received a call from Wayne, a local homeowner in Glennie, MI. He informed us of the standing water issue he was facing in his crawlspace and the current absence of a sump pump. Wayne’s friend referred him to Ayers Basement Systems, and he knew if his friend could count on us, he certainly could too!
After assessing Wayne’s crawlspace needs, we recommended the installation of our patented CleanSpace crawl space encapsulation system to address the current moisture issues being faced below his home. The CleanSpace encapsulation product is a 20mm thick plastic lining that completely seals off the crawl space from the grueling elements it faces below. To supplement the CleanSpace system we installed a Smart Sump. The Smart Sump is a budget conscious sump pump, system that contains an air tight lid, floor drain, pump stand, and a pump alarm. These are the essential features needed to help keep a crawlspace dry. To complete Wayne’s crawlspace makeover, we installed the SaniDry Sedona, a high-performance dehumidifier and filtration system. In his crawlspace, the Sedona will help prevent mold and reduce musty odors, giving Wayne dry healthy air and total comfort. Thanks to our team, Wayne’s crawlspace worries are now a thing of the past.
A drainage pipe become clogged near the home of Thomas A., a local homeowner in Spruce, MI. This left him continually battling several feet of water in his basement. After countless months of battling his wet basement, Thomas was more than ready to seek help from his local basement waterproofing experts.
Our new friend welcomed us into his home and we thoroughly inspected the current water concerns in his basement. Our System Design Specialist team recommended WaterGuard to remedy the problems Thomas had been facing. WaterGuard was installed along the home's footing, beneath the concrete, the installment collects water along the base of the perimeter walls and safely directs it to the sump pump for discharge from his home. With Thomas having an old sump pump that simply couldn’t keep up, he elected to have us install a SuperSump. The SuperSump is a sump pump system that contains an air tight lid, floor drain, pump stand, and a pump alarm. These are the essential features needed to help keep his basement dry. Once our team finished putting drainage stone around the WaterGuard, the cement was replaced, and the floor became seamless once again. Since our visit to Thomas’s home, his basement has remained a safe and dry place.
This Grand Rapids homeowner called us becuase his retaining wall outside was bowing and cracking severely. The front door was starting to stick but he was also nervous that the wall was going to give so he needed a solution fast.
We installed the GeoLock Wall Anchor System to stabilize the wall. These steel anchors are a long lasting soloution to prevent further movement. GeoLock Anchors are attched to a steel rod that extends for the wall into hard stable soil beyond your home. The hard soil is used to brace the wall that is failing. Wall anchors are installed with minimal disruption to your yard and dont take up usable space.
