This customer called because they noticed that their basement was damp and had a musty smell. The crew found that their dirt crawl space was damp and moldy, resulting in a wet and moldy basement as well.

Dirt crawl spaces can cause many unexpected problems for a homeowner. Water vapor and any other sources of water within your crawl space are the perfect home for mold to thrive. Not to mention air flows upward, meaning the damp air from the crawl space is entering other parts of your home and bringing the mold spores with it.

CleanSpace is a puncture and tear resistant plastic liner that that stops water vapor and other sources of water from leaking into the space. The liner is made to last as long as your home and is fastened to the interior walls to ensure it stays where you install it.

Robert had some concrete slabs of his driveway that were settling. He has had them lifted by other companies in the past and it did not last so he was really wanted a good fix this time around. We used PolyLevel to lift the fallen concrete and raise it to the original level. We then used NexusPro to seal the joints and keep things from getting under the concrete and degrading it from below.

Linda wanted her sinking driveway to be raised back up and the cracks sealed. We used PolyLevel and NexusPro to solve her settling problem and keep her driveway safe. PolyLevel is a foam that is injected under the sinking slabs and raises it back to the original level. NexusPro is a silicone sealant that remains flexible even in harsh weather to prevent debris from getting under the concrete and degrading it from below. Both PolyLevel and NexusPro dry in a fraction of time compared to other solutions so the driveway is usable in a short amount of time.

Job Stories From Howard City, MI
PowerBrace System Supports Failing Wall in Howard City, MI

This homeowner called because he noticed his basement wall looked just like the one in the header picture located on our website. The block wall foundation was bowing inward and the homeowner was looking for a reliable fix.

In order to stabilize the wall and prevent it from continuing to bow inward, we installed the PowerBrace system. This system uses steel support beams that hold the wall in place and can be used to eventually straighten the failing wall. A section of the flooring was removed at each brace location in order to install the steel support beams. The beams were then connected to the joists above the wall and secured with steel brackets. After the system was tightened into place, the wall was completely stabilized. The beams were coated with zinc to prevent corrosion and the system ensures weight is evenly transferred across the ceiling to prevent damage to the floors above.

Stabilizing a Wet Basement with Bowing Walls in Howard City, Mi

Phyllis called with a twofold problem in a commercial building she was managing. One, the walls were bowing. The foundation was comprised of block walls, which can be scary when they start bowing because it looks like the blocks might pop right out of place (and to be honest, they might). The mortar betwen blocks was also starting to erode, putting the stability into further peril.

And two, there was an old waterproofing system partially in place, but everywhere it wasn't installed had water issues. Gravity and grading play a major part in where water goes in a basement, so leaving parts of it unprotected just allowed the water to shift there. The result was a moldy, musty mess.

We installed DryTrak drainage system and connected it right to the existing system to finish out the perimeter and keep the entire basement protected and dry. We then used wall anchors, which connect to the wall and then are anchored in the soil at a distance where the soil is stable, to secure the walls. In the future, we can tighten the anchor cable to hopefully straighten the walls.

We are looking for a quote to repair as we would like to finish the basement eventually & we don't want a bigger problem like mold or foundation wear to happen by leaving it go. Thank you!
