Window Leak Repair in South Haven, MI
Challenge
Joe’s basement window had been leaking during heavy rains for the past four years. It wasn’t a severe leak to start, but over time the problem grew worse. Joe gave Ayers a call after years of concern that his basement would flood after every storm. When Ayers’ project manager Steve Schoenleber arrived, he determined the problem came from a hole under the window and debris in the window well.
Solution
Nine days later, foreman Terry Ortiz and his crew arrived to clear out the window well and install a window well drain. There had been previous attempts to stop the invading water by installing a window well cover. However, this solution failed as it did not solve the core problem. If any water got through the window well cover, it had nowhere to go except into the basement.
Ayers Basement Systems’ patented WellDuct will give the water trapped in the window well an outlet. The WellDuct works like a French drain system by collecting the water and transporting it to the sump pump. Since there was no existing French drain system to connect to the WellDuct, the crew had to dig a direct path to the sump pump.
After the WellDuct was connected to the sump pump, all that was left was to lay concrete over the dugout pathway and give the basement a clean look. The project took just four hours and Joe will no longer have to worry about his leaky window.
