We all know doing laundry isn’t the most enjoyable experience, but it’s probably a lot less unpleasant if you have to do it in a basement like this one. The mortar around the cinderblock walls is crumbling, letting moisture into the basement. While the owners have a sump pump, there’s no way for the water from the leaky walls to enter it; that’s where WaterGuard comes in.

Our team installed WaterGuard, a drainage system that’s laid on top of the footing around the perimeter of the basement. This piping collects water from the leaky walls and reroutes it to the sump pump, where it’s then forced out of the basement through a discharge line.

To improve the overall look of the walls, we also installed BrightWall paneling. These plastic panels fastened to the wall brighten the space, while still allowing water from the walls behind it to drain to the WaterGuard system. These panels prevent water vapor from coming through the walls and evaporating the basement, too.

WaterGuard helps eliminate the water from the leaky walls in this basement, while Brightwall paneling dramatically enhances the space. We won’t promise the homeowners that doing their laundry will be fun, but we hope it will be a lot more bearable when it’s done in this bright, dry basement.

Carol's basement floor was wet around the perimeter and has been for a week. She did not see any cracks or where the water could be leaking in from so she called us to find a solution. We found out the water was seeping in from where the wall and floor met. We installed the WaterGuard Below Floor Drain to collect water that gets in and send it to the sump pump to be expelled outside the home. It installs quick, year-round, and all concrete is restored after the install so you do not have an unsightly drain in the space. We also installed a sump pump to keep the water out of the home. The SuperSump Plus is great for homes that get the occasional water issues but not flooding. It was installed with the back up battery system to make sure the home stays dry even in the event of a power outage!

Job Stories From Parma, MI
Helping a Home with Year-Round Protection

Mark and Mary have lived in their home for 25 years. They were displeased when they found signs of water damage that became progressively worse. All in his crawlspace, he contacted Ayers to have an inspection be performed.

Our resident foreman Blade was able to listen to the couple's concerns and look around the area to find a cause. The water was irregular and the flooding was seasonal. Blade realized the home was ill-equipped for winter freezing and thawing in the spring. Blade and his team decided to install an IceGuard modification to help the home.

IceGuard is a modification that attaches to the pipes of the home's sump pump. Without the mod ice can build up when the pump pushes water through the system, risking buildups and ruptures. IceGuard is a simple attachment that requires no energy to function year-round.

Heavy Floods in Parma, MI Basement

Marilyn R. of Parma, MI was experiencing terrible side effects of the rain in her basement. Whenever it would rain heavily, water would end up every where in the basement -- on the walls and on the floor. Because of this, she gave us a call.

We installed our patented WaterGuard French drain system. WaterGuard rests below the basement floor and above the foundation footing, catching all the water that spills into the basement from the walls. After this water is caught it is directed to the sump pump to be pumped up and out of the home. The WaterGuard system keeps water out of your basement and off the floor for good.

WaterGuard Installation in Parma, MI Basement

Edward D. was suffering from water issues in his basement before he called us. There was water in the corners of the basement even though there were several sump pumps in the home. The home was built in 1973 with cement block walls and his basement is partially finished.

Our solution? WaterGuard. The WaterGuard French drain system rests below the basement floor but above the foundation footing, collecting water that seeps in from the basement walls. Once that water is collected, it is redirected to the sump pump in the home to be pumped outside.

Waterproofing a Crumbling Basement in Parma, MI

Jennifer first called us years ago with a wet basement. They had a sump pump and had tried another fix, but nothing was working; the walls were still wet and the mortar between the blocks was crumbling. Then she reached out last year with a problem that had only gotten worse.

The project had three major components: waterproofing, electrical, and finishing.

We installed WaterGuard below-floor drain around the perimeter of the basement, and tied it into a new TripleSafe sump pump to take care of the water issues, and installed a new upgraded electrical panel with a dedicated circuit to make sure the sump pump had the power to run without risking a breaker blow that would affect the rest of the house.

Finally, we installed Brightwall panels on the affected walls to cover up the dismal, crumbling look and to help divert water. Brightwall panels are not only inorganic and waterproof, but they can be tied right into the WaterGuard to directly divert water.

Crawlspace beneath part of the house (bedrooms) needs to be sealed and water vapor barrier laid down. Currently there's a strong breeze that blows during cold weather that sucks the heat out of that part of the house (and chills the air in the ductwork) so that part of the house is 10-15 degrees colder.

I am looking at buying a home in Concord, MI and had an inspection done. The modular home is on a crawl space but the inspector says the 3 posts supporting the house do not have concrete footings under them. He said the house would have to be jacked up and the cement footings put in to keep in from shifting. I would also like to have an electrical outlet put in as right now the heat tape is on an extension cord and have the crawl space insulated and a vapor barrier in there. Is this something you can do?

We have owned this home for about 16 years and have always had a damp basement that causes a slight "damp basement smell". We are finally getting ready to start major renovations in our home and I want to start by making sure we have a solid foundation and dry basement that we can use for storage or a rec room for the kids. I am recently retired and can be here most days and times you are available. Thanks.

This winter we had hardwood flooring installed in our main floor. It has since buckled and our contractor thinks the reason is due to moisture/mold in our basement. We need to have the situation evaluated before we can fix the hardwood. Your opinion and ideas could be very helpful. Thanks
