Wall Anchors Stabilize Bowing Wall in Lawton, MI

This homeowner called because his foundation basement wall was bowing and had continued to get worse over the course of many years. To fix this bowing wall problem, we decided to install the Geo-Lock wall anchor system to fully stabilize his wall and hopefully return it to its original position.

The Geo-Lock anchor system is installed by digging out the soil outside of your home in order to place a galvanized steel anchor into the soil. That anchor is then connected to steel rods located on a steel plate in the basement wall, which will hold the foundation wall in place. The backfill and sod are both replaced during this installation and the anchors can be tightened over time to hopefully shift the wall back to its original position.

Mary noticed moisture  was entering her crawl space that resulted from the vents. They allowed outside air in, causing moisture to form and making the problem worse. We installed our Everlast vent covers. The Everlast vent covers are made of plastic so they won’t rust or rot.  They seal the air out, insulate, and improve the appearance of your home.

We've been told time and time again by building codes and officials that crawl spaces have to be vented, but why? If light can get into your crawl space so can air. Vents let in hot air in the summer, cold air in the winter and they can let water in too. These air can cause your utility bills to be more expensive than they need to be and that moisture can cause mold and no one wants that.

We offer crawl space vent covers that work great to solve all of these issues. Our vents permanently seal the openings so no unwanted outside elements get into your crawl space. They come in black, gray and red to match almost any home.

I have a few things I was wondering about: 1.) Currently we have an addition to the cabin which does not have a foundation under it. I would like to know the cost to extend the original foundation out underneath the addition to create a larger basement/cellar area. The addition is approximately 7 feet in width and 18-20 feet in length. The front of the cabin is approximately 8-10 feet from the seawall to the lake. 2.) There are some repairs to the walls which would need to take place as well. 3.) More like a statement and looking for advice but looking to create the proper foundation to support potential future additions such as creating a second level. I appreciate your feedback! I will not be at the cabin until the weekend of August 6th if there is a need, which I assume their is to asses the situation.
