Foundation Repair Case Studies: Hazardous Bowing Walls in Grand Rapids

Monday, March 24th, 2014 by Jared McCarthy

Linda W. had lived in her home for three years and was ready to start making changes. Hoping to finish her basement, she called Ayers Basement Systems to solve her foundation problems once and for all. Bowing, cracked walls had prevented her from achieving her goal to make her basement a safe, comfortable living area.

CarbonArmor and Geo-Lock Wall anchors were used to stop the damage and make Linda’s home safe again. The installation took only one day, and the bowing walls have been permanently fixed.

CarbonArmor strips are a unique in-home solution that absorb the pressure on bowing walls rather than transferring it like a traditional I-beam. The strips are made of a fiber-reinforced polymer that is 10 times stronger than steel and is specifically designed for basement walls.

Geo-Lock wall anchors permanently stabilize the basement walls by connecting two anchors, one inside the basement and one outside, with anchor rods. They Ayers crew used 12"x18" interior anchors were used to keep a low profile and not interfere with Linda’s plan to finish her basement.

Foundation repair can be done during any season. Schedule a free inspection today!
