The Importance of Annual Maintenance: Waterproofing

The Importance of Annual Maintenance: Waterproofing - Image 1

“Why do I need annual maintenance?” you might ask, and that’s understandable. You took the big step of getting a system installed and your basement is dry, so it’s best to leave well enough alone, right? Wrong. Just like a car, your system will benefit from receiving annual checkups to make sure everything is in tip top shape.

If you have a waterproofing system, here’s what an annual maintenance visit will look like. A service technician will…

  • Check the drain system and flush it out to make sure everything is clear and working properly. This is especially important if you have iron ochre in your water.

  • Inspect the sump pump(s) to ensure they’re working, including testing any alarms and battery backups.

  • Look for any signs of new problems in the event that you only have a partial perimeter system.

  • Listen to your questions and concerns. Maybe your Water Watch alarm is going off at random, or maybe you’ve noticed something entirely new, like a crack in your foundation wall. Bring it up - they can investigate any problems and, if needed, provide you with recommendations for further work.

Every year around the anniversary of your initial installation, someone from our Customer Care department will do the work for you and call to set up a visit. But if you’ve noticed anything amiss, or you want extra peace of mind before the next big rain, you can call anytime to schedule an appointment for one of our service technicians to come out.

Just like we take our cars in for oil changes and go to the doctor for an annual physical, it’s important to schedule annual maintenance visits for your waterproofing system. Regular maintenance and upkeep prevents problems - and unexpected expenses - from occurring down the road. Call today to schedule your annual maintenance visit.
