Hire a Company You Can Trust

A part of our quest to redefine the contracting industry involves talking about bad contractor experiences we’ve all had. Over and over, the same phrases pop up in everyone’s stories: sketchy, uncommunicative, messy, rude. We’ve all worked with companies that have seemed less than trustworthy, but by the time we figure that out, it’s usually too late.

Take a friend of mine as an example. She had an above ground pool installed last summer, and it was a mess from day one. First, the installation got delayed. Then when they finally did show up, it was much later than they were supposed to be there. The two men were pretty unkempt, to the point that she thought one of them was “on something,” and they came and went without warning.

One afternoon, they came to the door demanding final full payment, despite the fact that the pool installation wasn’t complete. When she refused, one of the men began yelling at her, and the afternoon ended with one of the men (not the yelling one, ironically) in handcuffs and threats of sabotaging the pool hanging in the air.

By the end of her interactions with the company, her fiance had been repeatedly harassed via text message, and it came out that not only were the workers they sent not licensed, but even the company had let its license lapse.

Now, not every bad interaction is this extreme, but all of the touchpoints are there - not showing up when they were supposed to and not communicating with the customer about it, unkempt appearance, shady business practices, etc.

That’s why it’s important to work with a trusted company. At Ayers, we have layers of staffing and accountability to keep things running smoothly. Dedicated office staff means you’ll get a person when you call, not just a voicemail, and changes can be communicated quickly to avoid mix-ups.

We also require a background check on every employee, right down to our interns. We only hire permanent employees - no day laborers here - and we won’t send anyone into your home who we wouldn’t send to our own. Our installation crews are highly trained in protecting our customers’ property and treating them and their homes with respect. They’ll show up in uniform, ready to work and answer any questions you have.

We have an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau and we’ve been in Lansing (and working all over the state) for over 35 years. When you call Ayers, you’re calling a company you can trust.
