What Lies Beneath - Unobtrusive Products that Get the Job Done

Yesterday was International Ninja Day, but the blog uploader wasn’t working. So today, in honor of yesterday, we’re going to talk about the biggest Ninja stereotype - secrecy - and highlight our favorite products that work by staying unseen.

In addition to keeping your home safe and dry, we also strive to make it comfortable. One of the most important parts of comfort is convenience, so many of our products are designed to stay out of the way. This way, you get all of the benefits without having to alter your routine.

WaterGuard

WaterGuard, our below-floor drain system, works by channeling water to a sump pump rather than making you rely on gravity to force the water there. The installation requires some work - after all, we need to get “below the floor” to install a below-floor system - but once it’s in place, you’ll never know it’s there. After installation, we pour new concrete over top of the system and your floor is as good as new. Actually, it’s better than new, because now it won’t be flooded.

Lawnscape Outlets

In the old days, the discharge line for your sump pump would sit on your lawn, much like an overextended gutter downspout. In addition to being an eyesore, an above ground discharge line is also a trip hazard and makes mowing the lawn a huge hassle. But burying the line put it at risk for mud clogs and eventual water backup.

But the Lawnscape outlet allows us to bury the discharge line by providing an outlet that releases the water above ground, while also protecting against clogs and damage with its grated cover. This means your lawn stays beautiful and you have no excuse not to mow. Sorry about that.

Helical and Push Piers

The least glamorous but perhaps most vital product in this entry is the pier. When the soil underneath your house is unstable (due to recent construction, the water table, or even just bad soil composition) and shifts, your foundation and home are at risk of settling, sinking, and, in some severe cases, collapsing. Foundation issues must be dealt with quickly, and the solutions are entirely hidden from view.

In order to secure the foundation of a sinking home, we install piers. The piers are drilled into the ground to a predetermined depth and attached to the slab at the base of the foundation. Pier installation transfers the weight of the home from the soil to the pier itself, eliminating the chance for further sinking and settling. The process requires extensive excavation but, once the installation is finished, the only sign we were there is the freshly turned over dirt that will be covered in grass by next year.

They say seeing is believing, but even unseen solutions like those above can be counted on to get the job done.
